RTP version. Yes! that would be the one. I had a GL1500 roll off the side stand on me once and there was no damage due to the engine guards. I don't want to see the RT roll off the side. I could keep it in 1ST gear but there is no guaranty there either.
as to the install it looks like I am on my own. Thr BMW robber.er stealer, er dealer be very last I go to and pay THAT much to get it installed. I have read that it will interfere duke blue devils mascot w/ a peg lowering kit. Am getting use to the current peg and don't forsee that as an issue for now. Tho in my RTP thread a member has told me how he modded his to stand taller but it is the same old stand as far as locking goes. if I do install it I will prolly also do the the sidetand mod to let the engine start in Neutral. Still dies if put in gear.

That's a great idea. With my Wing I got into the habit of parking in neutral, depending where I parked I would some times part in 1st gear. You see, I never park my bike, I'm always riding it.... duke blue devils mascot All kidding aside. I'll get into the habit of doing that especially if it is not easy to roll off the side stand.
why would you NOT want to park the bike in gear? I never have. Guess I've been lucky so far. I think I will start leaving it in 1st gear. This is good, I learned something today. Never to old to learn new tricks.
The thing about traveling is, you never want it to end and you can't wait to get home. I answer to Roy, Chief, or Sarg. 04 R-1150-RT current bike. 94 R-1100- RS 74,383, Sold, 78 R-80/7, K.I.A by a D.U.I www.OceanStateBMWriders.com
'Cause I only use the sidestand long enough to pull the bike up onto the centerstand. It's an old habit from Airhead days ..... anywhere but in your garage, the larger triangle afforded by the sidestand and 2 wheels is a more secure parking arrangement than using the c-stand, and it's very small footprint. but hey- your bike, your choice.

I have an 02 RTP, I love the locking side stand and have replaced all hardware except the actual stand (which is supposed to be stronger) and it is easy to do and parts are still available. I like the RTP side stand better, duke blue devils mascot due to the easy to find handle/lever that you use to deploy duke blue devils mascot the stand. It was designed to make it easier and faster to deploy. In some cases Motor officers are actually deploying duke blue devils mascot the stand while still moving, thus the need for the locking feature. Here are links to 2 BMW bulletins that have BMW's stance on the abuse that stands receive during official duty and the needed part info. http://www.bmwmc.net/uploads/tm7/P01-05.pdf http://www.bmwmc.net/uploads/tm7/02SideStand.pdf duke blue devils mascot Good Luck.
